In the late 1990s, she began to act and dance professionally at Boulder's Dinner Theatre and Country Dinner Playhouse. After that, she joined a regional theatre in Minnesota which was where she got her first role in a documentary mock-up about beauty pageants Drop Dead Gorgeous (1999). Her screen debut was as the bright, beautiful contestant. Following that, she relocated her home to Los Angeles in order to make a name for herself as an actor. In the 1960s, Leigh appeared in films that were popular, including Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho and Living It Up.
